Web design and marketing in a recession/credit crunch
In a recession, many companies first response is often to tighten their belts, cutting any non essential outgoings in preparation to weather the financial storm.
However this may not be the best policy when it comes to marketing. In times of poor economic growth, it is often the perfect time for companies to be a little smarter with their marketing in order to capture the market share of their competitors. This has proven a highly effective strategy in previous recessions.
An effective way to reduce costs is to use freelancers instead of large agencies. A freelancer or smaller web design companies will cost a fraction of the price for the same quality of work. And as we all know the security of using the large agencies diminishes in the time of a recession.
